Day to day

Care Team model. Mostly medical direction. MDs will do most, if not all the blocks, with APPs in rooms. It’s a new surgery center build that’s falling under the NFAC practice. The surgeons are fairly fast with short turnovers leaving little time for the APP's to block. APP's staff the OR while the docs perform block prior to case completion. There will be a fair amount of total joints done under spinal anesthesia. These are most often performed by the APP's. Calling for induction/emergence? Most doctors ask for some sort of notice to help manage OR flow, but not many doctors require being intimately involved in the induction/emergence. Some doctors prefer knowing about emergence to make sure the next patient is ready for the OR. Supervision? Medical Direction model with a collaborative relationship between the APP's and doctors. Loose supervision? NFAC is a fast-paced group. There is not a lot of time for close supervision and our philosophy has been finding ways to divide the responsibilities and work collaboratively to get the cases done while still providing clinical assistance when needed.
