Our story

Our story, in three eras

A physician-founded staffing firm built for the long term.

  1. 2010Founded in IllinoisOrchard is founded by Dr. N. Ram Saladi, a practicing hospitalist, and incorporated by Indira Saladi as President. Headquartered in Glencoe, Illinois, the company is built on a clinically governed approach to locum tenens staffing.
  2. 2012First major health system partnershipOrchard secures its first multi-site locum tenens contract with a major Midwest health system, initiating a long-standing partnership that continues today across Illinois and Wisconsin.
  3. 2013Second major health system partnershipOrchard adds a second major regional health system to its client portfolio, expanding hospital medicine coverage across Illinois.
  4. 2015Doubled hospital medicine coverage footprintOrchard doubles the number of sites receiving hospital medicine coverage, cementing its position as a trusted hospitalist staffing partner across the Midwest.
  5. 2017Expansion beyond hospital medicineOrchard broadens its clinical scope beyond hospital medicine, extending locum tenens coverage into additional physician specialties.
  6. 2018Third major health system partnershipOrchard secures a multi-year locum tenens contract with a significant regional health system spanning multiple Midwestern states, extending the firm's reach into new geographies and clinical service lines.
  1. 2020International operations establishedOrchard opens its first international operational hubs in Asia, expanding the firm's global talent, credentialing, and support capacity.
  2. 2021Neuro tele-health coverage launchedOrchard expands its service offering to include neuro tele-health coverage, allowing hospitals to fill critical neurology gaps remotely and giving providers new flexible practice models.
  3. 2022Additional health system partnershipOrchard establishes a new partnership with a Midwest regional medical center, further strengthening its hospital network.
  4. 2023Catholic health system partnershipOrchard begins providing locum tenens staffing services to a large Catholic health system, expanding its reach across the Midwest.
  5. 2023VMS/MSP platform integrationOrchard begins participating in vendor management system partnerships, enabling nationwide assignment coverage and expanded reach across new states and specialties.
  1. 2024Continued international expansionOrchard adds a third international operational hub, extending its global footprint to a fourth country and further scaling its talent and support infrastructure.
  2. 2024Channel diversification and national scaleOrchard signs additional national vendor and health system agreements, bringing its provider network to over 1,000 credentialed clinicians across 18+ specialties.
  3. 2025Fifteen-year anniversaryOrchard marks fifteen years of continuous operations, sixteen years without a single malpractice lawsuit, and a sustained provider fallout rate under 1%.
  4. 2025First Chief Executive Officer appointedJames Cantrell joins Orchard as its first Chief Executive Officer to lead the company's next phase of national growth, working alongside Indira Saladi (President and Board Director) and Dr. N. Ram Saladi (Chief Medical Officer and Co-Founder).
  5. 2026VA Federal Supply Schedule contract awardedOrchard is awarded a VA Federal Supply Schedule contract (Schedule 621I), joining a select group of firms authorized to provide locum tenens services to Veterans Affairs facilities nationwide.
  6. 2026Enterprise safety-net health system engagementOrchard submits a comprehensive proposal to serve as a locum tenens staffing partner for a major public safety-net health system, marking its largest enterprise engagement to date.

Our Codes of Ethics and Standards of Practice are built directly on NAPR's — binding us on contractual obligations, confidentiality, proper solicitation, permission before any disclosure, accurate records, and accurate representation of every provider and every position. Those standards govern each placement we make, and they are what give clients and candidates confidence in the process.

Our Code of Ethics

To ensure the highest standard of business and ethical conduct, Orchard maintains strict Codes of Ethics and Standards of Practice based on the standards set out by the National Association of Physician Recruiters (NAPR) and the National Association of Locum Tenens Organizations (NALTO). The combined practice and ethical standards of NAPR.

The Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice for NALTO. Orchard ensures the ethical standards of practice by upholding the following key principles:

Fulfillment of all contractual obligations.

Orchard will ensure that all provider placement contracts are fulfilled without coercion and to the greatest possible integrity.

Preservation of confidence.

Orchard knows when information is confidential and will never release the confidential information of a hospital or an Orchard provider to any third party without explicit consent.

Proper solicitation of referral.

Orchard doesn't contact hospitals for unsolicited referral and forbids its providers from offering payment as a method of ensuring placement.

Proper permission for information disclosure.

Orchard won't distribute the personal information or qualifications of a provider to a hospital offering prospective placement without first consulting the provider and receiving consent.

Accurate and complete maintenance of records.

Orchard keeps meticulous and accurate records of all information related to its providers, clients, and all contractual agreements between the two.

Accurate representations.

Orchard will never misrepresent the qualifications of an Orchard provider nor the nature of a position with a hospital.
