Shift Details:

  • Procedures: Comprehensive care including outpatient clinic evaluations, surgical, pre-op, post-op, and critical care management of cardiac surgical patients
  • Certifications Needed: Board Certified in Cardiothoracic Surgery
  • Patient Population/Case Load: Average Number of Patients Per Day: 10; Patient Age Demographic: Adolescent/Adult/Geriatric. ICU: Average of 7–10 cardiac surgery ICU patients (including 2–4 requiring ECMO/mechanical circulatory support)
  • Case Mix: Practice Setting: Inpatient

Day to day

Daytime rounding, clinical decision-making for continuity of care, discharges, accepting/managing transfers, and providing cath lab backup.

Practice details

  • Not solo coverage
  • Shift pattern: Day + Night Call
  • Setting: Hospital Based all inpt-OR//ICU/Rounding of patients in ER and floors M-F 8AM-5PM + call

Case mix

  • Comprehensive care including outpatient clinic evaluations, as well as surgical, pre-op, post-op, and critical care management of cardiac surgical patients.
  • Elective surgery referrals will be rare; the focus is primarily on acute/critical and established surgical patients.

Call

Nights and weekend rotation Acting as second call (behind ICU APPs) for nighttime management and consultative services.

Dates & schedule

As soon as credentialed - 6 month assignment. 3-10 coverage days each month are needed (variable), inclusive of at least 1 weekend per month; on call hours are 5pm-7 am.
